Hostels, Trains... [Sep. 23rd, 2005|12:20 pm]
Our Eurotrip

[mood |chipperchipper]

Ok, so I checked this morning everything that I paid for on my credit card is on the statement now:

It adds up to $967.06 ($241.76 each):

$355.30 (Hotel Absolute, the first time)
$107.42 (Second Night in Barcelona)
$126.61 (Train Reservation from Nice to Rome)
$55.41 (Train Reservations from Rome to Florence, Florence to Venice, Venice to Munich)
$90.73 (Train Reservation from Munich to Paris)
$231.59 (Hotel Absolute, the second time)

So... I will be giving Sarah back $8.24 and Megan back $32.26. I can just give it to Sarah when she comes to pick up Gus Gus Guinea Pig tomorrow! :)

Chris, if you could send me a check ASAP, that would be awesome! My address is:
2668 North L Street
Washougal, WA 98671

sidenote: it feels SO weird to be home!

looks more complicated than it is... [Aug. 31st, 2005|01:41 pm]
Our Eurotrip

SO... I just figured out today that Megan was including the booking fees in how much we are paying Jessica. I thought about it... and this is making things fairly difficult for paying Megers and I back for our double booking.

Basically, Megan and I booked twice at 10 euros each. Sarah and Jessica booked twice at 5 euros each. We have all already paid for these booking fees. if you add them together (30 euro) and divide by 4, it = 7.5 euro (meaning that all jessica and sarah would have to do is give Megan and I 2.5 euro when we got there to make it even).

With the way Megan has it now (and it was totally nice of you to do this Megan... but I think it doesn't work as well) was that she included all the booking fees in the hostel amounts again. SO basically we are all paying twice for the booking fees. For example, this will mean that I will have paid 10 euro once... and then 7.5 euro again for a total of 17.5 euro just for booking fees. THEN, some how... between the sarah and jessica... I would have to be paid 10 euro back to make it even... instead of only 2.5. Plus it would make the situation a lot more complicated in my opinion.

SO... I propose that we just get to Europe... have Jessica pay for the said hostels as planned... and then we just pay jessica back our share (not including the booking fees cause they were already paid). Instead... Sarah and Jessica can just give Megan and I back 2.5 euro when in europe to make it even... or buy me a candy bar or something. :) simple as that.

Not a huge change... and was kinda complicated to explain... but in the end, it will make things easier, and will avoide double payments. :)

2!!!!!!! [Aug. 30th, 2005|11:51 am]
Our Eurotrip

Allright so as everyone probably already knows already, I booked that Alguinquon (or whatever it's called) hostel for September 10th because of the whole train thing. So we need to tweak the amount we will owe Jessica now...including the booking fee, it cost 89 Euros for the night so if I convert that, it's $108.75. If we add that to the total amount that we will be paying for hostels, then it comes to a total of $1204.83, and then if we divide that by four, it comes to $301.21 rather than the $274.02 that it was originally. But yeah, I know we are going to figure all this out after we get back when Jessica gets her credit card statement, but I just wanted to put this out there so we know a more accurate number of how much we will be paying for hostels.

And one more thing, I know Chris wants a copy of all the confirmations, and I was wondering if Sarah and Jessica want them too? And would all you guys rather have me email them all to you or make copies here at work (where's it's free heh) and bring the little "packets" with me when I come up to Portland tomorrow? And let me know by like 4pm so I can make copies here if I need to. Ok! Talk to you guys SOON!

*OMG* 2 days!

This is probably a stupid question, but...

If I buy an international calling card here, I can use it from other countries, right? It makes sense, but for some reason I have this weird feeling about it.

Eh, I'm weird :)

10!!!! [Aug. 22nd, 2005|12:19 pm]
Our Eurotrip

Allright, so I made a list of the trains that I think we should take based on our schedule as of now:

Paris-Barcelona - 8:32pm to 8:24am, no stops, couchettes available
Barcelona-Nice - 8:45am to 7:15pm, stop in Montpellier from 1:15pm to 3:10pm (I know that this is the one we are trying to figure out if we can do overnight)
Nice-Genova(Italy) - 6:05pm to 9:06pm, no stops (sadly, there is no direct train to Rome from Nice so we will have to make this stop in Genova)
Genova-Rome - 11:53pm to 6:14am, no stops, couchettes available
Rome-Pisa - 7:35am to 10:57am, no stops
Pisa-Florence - Every 2 hours throughout the day (this is going to leave us so little time in Florence *frown*)
Florence-Venice - 8:39am to 11:28am, no stops
Venice-Munich - 10:52pm to 6:31am, no stops, couchettes available
Munich-Paris - 8:56pm to 7:01am, no stops, couchettes available

I realize that there may be lots of trains that we could also take at different times, but are not in our schedules, but this is what I came up with off of the schedule that we got with our Eurail passes.

Do any of you see anything totally wrong with this? Is there an easier way to do some of the things? I was just bored and wrote this up so that we could bring it with us to go off of instead of looking it up every time or something. Hokay, let me know if I should change anything. Also, did you all get my emails with the itinerary and calendar? Is there anything that needs to be changed on those also? I know my mom would like the itinerary asap, so if you guys could let me know as soon as you can, that would be awesomez0rz. KTHXBI! :P

Ok, since I am going to be the one paying for the hostels while we're in Europe, I wanted to propose something to you guys...

I know that the exchange rate changes practically daily, and I plan on putting all of the hostels on my credit card (and really, that's all I plan on putting on there)... so what do you guys think about me finding out what the total for all the hostels is when we get back, and you guys can just pay me then. That way it works out perfectly fair.

Meh, I dont know if that made any sense... let me know what you guys think!
